Watch the half of it online. The Half of It is, quite literally, a film of two halves. For everything that I liked about the film, there's another thing which I didn't like. Fortunately, the positives were very strong and they ended up outweighing the negatives.
The acting is very solid, although nothing spectacular, and the characters are well-written. I enjoyed the journey that Ellie and Deacon went on together, and the chemistry between them was electrifying.
The ending was powerful and it contains some very important messages about the true meaning of love. It's nothing that we haven't seen before, but they executed it with excellence in this film.
As usual for a Netflix film of this genre, it's littered with clichés and the script is predictable. The first act is also a little uninteresting and the pacing is off. It really takes a while to get immersed in the story, but I was completely invested in it by the second act.
Thankfully, despite all of the negatives I just mentioned, The Half of It is bursting with charm and a compelling narrative, which made it one of my favourite Netflix films of the year so far.

Not all people you meet will help lift you up or make you shine even more because those are the downers in life. They want to pull you down to their level because they have low self-worth and can not make improvements on themselves. Leave them behind and make room for people that will complement you and help you succeed in all aspect of life.
